Word is that that pop singer who likes to entertain you, one Robbie Williams esq, is on this exotically named Seabourn Sojourn this morning. He has just boarded. No doubt the crane you see in the picture is specially engaged to hoist Robbie's luggage aboard..or maybe even to hoist his entourage aboard. Robbie is off to do a concert in Rotterdam or Copehagen or somewhere north. This ship, not terribly huge but terribly posh and rather expensive...egad...sounds just right for me !!lol

but its on a first visit to Dover. So a very welcome newcomer.
On the other hand this one below, the MSC Opera, must be on one of its last visits to Dover...

I caught the other one this morning, but the name escapes me.

I believe Twiggy boarded the Seaborn Sorjourn this afternoon to officially name the ship, her next port of call is Greenwich where Robbie is in concert

Re post #62
MSC Opera has 9 more scheduled visits to Dover this year.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

This great whopper of a mystery ship passed up the channel last night. I was tipped off by Ray and Diana again who also spotted the Queen Mary a while back. Dont know what this ship is called. The visibility was poor so the picture quality is bad.
Also in today is the very large Holland/America line in the usual all black and white... Eurodam. Also in ..in its wake, is the minnow Spirit of Adventure. Visible now that the fog has cleared.

I believe the cruise ship in PaulB's post is P&O's latest, Azura.

Well done with that info there Kevin. Its quite a ship but was hard to picture on the gloomy evening. However despite the gloom, Im sure if someone twisted my arm I could have managed a Pimms or two with the captain on the foredeck

saw the two cruise ships from st martins battery this afternoon, the difference in size is quite remarkable.
the large ones seem to be growing every year.
the two new ferries being built in finland will also dwarf our present super ferries.
is there a limit?

I have photos of the small one passing the big one to park up with the tug helping it,all I need now is how I put them on to my pc then onto the Dover forum,I am now spending more time like Colin going round with my Praktica Dc 9001 with optical Lens taking photos.

Disney Magic is now in, very attractive ship in the old Hollywood style. Long and sleek and fairly big. Not what I was expecting, was expecting her to be all white and modern, but I guess they have their own highly marketed style. It was already in and docked before I woke from my beauty sleep at 6am...and as its low down on the tide right now, well down behind the pier from my angle, so at the moment not able to get an effective shot. Could get a poor shot but we dont really want that. But will watch for a better situation later. Worth popping down to have a look.
OH paul please put a photo up, anyhow i will pop down and have a look

To paraphrase Michael Caine for a minute... not a lot of people know this.. but the story is that one of the funnels is a fake..just to re-create the old Hollywood look. One is an actual funnel of course, the other is a teenage fun club..so there you are. Another gem from Doverforum. Make sure you send your teenage kids to the right funnel otherwise there could be a mishap ..such as incineration!! lol
Will try to get a better shot later.

Now that looks more like a ship, and the s.s. France immediately springs to mind. Lovely picture there again Paul, and I`ll have to try and see that one today, though I`m out of town for much of the day.

Just added another one to it Colin but its low tide so not a good angle for me at the moment. Was hoping to get it coming in but it was already in and docked by 6am..honestly, theyve got no consideration! lol

Anyway hope Melissa will enjoy it. Good story that about the funnel.
Wow what a beauty. Thanks paul great photo as always
