i still feel sorry for mrs may, she has never been the sharpest tool in the blue box and has the worst job of all in the government.
there are loads of new blue m.p's that have no experience so she had to have a cabinet job.
the first thing she said when she took office was that police persons paperwork would be cut, 15 months later nothing.
the second thing she said was that there would be more officers, then she is told to cut them.
the latest was that there would be more front line/visible police, we wait with baited breath.

Sorry Keith, I do not wish to divert from original thread, my point and question was (and as usual not answered)
Why are these thugs and criminals not being dealt with as the "enemy within" ?

Gary I think the difference between then and now is the Human Rights Act and the effect it has had on the way police deal with disorder.

GaryC I have heard the actions of flying pickets called many things but 'talking' is not one of them.

quite right barry if they had talked it would have been most preferable to their awful close harmony singing.

I know the truth is hard for some to swallow but the truth is I was involved in talking, not picketing, to lads in Coventry and we were successful in getting them to down tools and back the strike.
We asked and were allowed to talk to them in their canteen and when we presented them with the truth, they acted upon their previous area ballot to withdraw their labour, we did all this by talking to them.
That is why we were stopped from going to talk to other pits at the Dartford tunnel, for fear that they would follow suit and join us.
I am not sorry that the truth does not fit into your pathetic little dream world but those are the facts.
Yes Peter I agree, police have much less powers now, that is what I have been saying, they need those restrictions lifted, fast.

Just to correct another one of your lies.
Coventry was grouped with Kent and called South Midlands, which meant we were not flying pickets.
We were illegally stopped from visiting pits from our own area. Which is why the retired Kent Police Commander has had to admit that his actions were illegal.

accusing a fellow member of telling lies and using phrases like "pathetic little dream world" do not fit in with the ethos of the forum.

Sadly each persons truth is coloured by their perceptions, assumptions, belief system etc.

Howard.
When a lie is a lie and I can prove it is a lie, then I have every right to say it is a lie. I will always treat people with respect, if they treat me with respect, if however they treat me the way I have been treated, then I will treat them in the same way.
I am all for you keeping an eye on what is said but you must stop being bias.
If I am not allowed to say it is a lie, then you must also chastise the other person for telling the lie.

I agree.
But in this case.
We were not flying pickets, Fact.
We did go to other pits to talk, also a Fact.

a lie to someone is a truth to someone else, i take great exception to being called biased too.
i haven't a clue who you are accusing of telling lies and living in a "pathetic little dream world" either.
please remember we are a members club, would you speak that way to someone at the miners welfare?

I would have said Howard is the most unbiased of all of us , so I take exception at your comment Gary.
Sometimes it is better not to try and have the last word and just let go.

Gary as someone who was heavily involved in the trade disputes at that time (Seaman's. Miner's & Printer's) my view is very much in accord with yours

Howard.
No a lie is a lie.
I apologise if you was offended by being called bias.
Bias means you tend to lean to one side and not the other, it was not meant to be offensive it was meant to point out that I have to put up with comments like this one below, with no comment from you:
"They were on their way to intimidate, bully and assault decent miners who preferred to work rather than do what that madman Scargill wanted. Very sensibly the police stopped them".
I take extreme offence to these comments, I have never intimated, bullied or assaulted anyone and I find these words far out way bias.
Jan.
I am not trying to have the last word I just think that when I get insulted, something should be said.
