Cameron has suddenly come to life and recalled parliament for thursday
boris got a realy hard time in london, calls for his resignation
whilst mrs May stood silent looking bemused in the background
have to say whatever you think of boris, todays interview made him look a real maverick

actually i felt a bit sorry for the home secretary, she was hardly off the plane and people were demanding to know whether water canons or plastic bullets should be used, the army brought in etc.
i am sure that she would need to consult with advisers and the metropolitan police before deciding on a solution.
cool clear thinking is required now.

Theresa May is a cabinet minister and should be on top of her brief 24/7/365. She has not shone during this episode.

She would have been consulting with advisers before, during and after her flight home. Asleep at the wheel otherwise.

I am not going into the politics about police and miner's.
My question is "why cant the police use the same force and tactics on the hooligans and crimals (not genuine protester's) that was used against the miners in the strike?

Because the police don't know when and where they will appear Gary, during the miners strike they did.

Not rocket science to have worked out where the pickets were going to be.

Peter - they were on their way to intimidate, bully and assault decent miners who preferred to work rather than do what that madman Scargill wanted. Very sensibly the police stopped them.

There is a danger that the thread will get lost in the past miuners democratic dispute, so wont comment further and wont use barryw methods of saying people don understand
but there was a lot that went on in that year of the miners strike, from both sides, and interested agencies
i could write a book

Peter
Kent Police stopped miners (and any one who looked like a miner) from travelling through the Dartford Tunnel and threatening them with arrest if the went through as they were presumed to be going to support colleagues in other coal fields even though the nearest mine was about 100 miles away. This was an infringement of civil liberties and part of the process of the politicising the police which Mrs Thatcher began and, which has disgracefully been continued by subsequent PMs (see the way Blair used them to block protestors from the Chinese leader when he visited).
tereasa may has no idea how to handle the situation and has the look of margaret thacher about her
boris johnson is a twerp another one who reaally shouldnt be lloked up to , and david cameron must be gutted having to leave his villa which personally i think he should of came home much sooner

All wrong and all lie's as usual.
We were on our way to talk to our fellow miners in Coventry.
The retired Kent Police Commander stated on live radio that, under orders, he ordered that the Kent miners be stopped at the Dartford tunnel and he admitted on live radio, that his orders were illegal.
He stated again today that powers should be given to police to deal with these thugs in the same way.
He also stated that he hated following those orders against the miners but if he was in charge today he would not feel sorry for these thugs.
