  That one is the kestral Ian, the little multi colourd one behind it was the American Kestral.

  That is the multi coloured one Humph, right next to the van.
  
  Our smallest bird of prey is the Red-Backed Shrike, they are every bit as predatory as the small falcons.

  Lovely picture`s Ian, and sorry I couldn`t make it. Just out of curiosity, owl`s are always associated I think with coming out at night. But apart from show`s in Pencester, do they ever come out in the day?

  Yes they do Colin, Not very often you will see them though, If their not nesting they quite often spend their day in the tree tops having a kip. and a lot depends on their food source and weather. wet weather no food.
  
  By the way, what is the collective name for a group of Owls?
