09:5177641I never took part in Halloween when I was a kid as it was not done back in the 50's that I can remember. I do not mind it now though I think it is good clean fun seeing the kids dress up, in fact last night we had a Halloween night at the Mill were the children came along for a Halloween party and took part in Halloween games.
Tonight I will have sweets at home and if the children knock the door and are dressed up they will get sweets, just as some did last night. Should the children be small then I have sweets hidden under by collar and I pull them out as though it is a trick and they are from behind my ear. I never get any poor remarks about sweets not being enough it is all a laugh.
Come on we have ago when the children are up to no good but dressing up for Halloween if just about fun and if you do not want to take part put a notice on your door.
Having said all this I do not think penny for the Guy is up to much these days, which is when some older children and teenagers do go over the top in trying to get money.

10:4077655Before we start getting onto the moral high ground about not brainwashing kids and letting them make their own minds up, can I just ask if that also applies to breaking the law and swearing? My point, without labouring it too much, is that we all give our children some guidance and moral parameters, and so we should! The fact is we choose which guidance to give, we don't simply not give any. Unless, of course, we are Kyle fodder in which case we simply pod and hope. Unless "hope" is too active a verb, of course.

12:0877670Vic;
I thought you told me you hated children lol

(well thsat was the explanation you gave after chasing one out of his seat at crabble lol

)
Yes parents guidance goes a long way, and I find a shame when listerning to children who's every other word start's with the c or F words.
But then listerning to some parents its no wonder.
My only view point on this issue is that we had a big debate that got realy seriousd on religion, and maybe this to needs to be aired but hope it won't go the same way as the religious debate

17:2077712By the way the picture above is of my Grandson, which was taken before he went to school on the last day prior to half term, all the children could go dressed for Halloween that day and I understand they all had a great day.
I was not there (being a bit too old) but I expect they had assemly with hymns and a prayer dressed like it as well, unless schools do not have assembly any more.
We have sweets ready as well Vic and will have a cut out pumpkin out side the front door lit with a candle, not sure who is worse the children or us.

19:4177726Damn. Run out of cigarettes for the trick or treaters.
Plan B.
Answer door stark naked apart from a goat's head mask. Any complaints and I shall complain of religious persecution and that I was in the middle of performing an arcane ritual to celebrate Samhain!
