I was planning to enjoy the late evening cool in the garden but someone up in Westbury Road has decided to light a bonfire. Bad enough in the house as doors and windows have to stay open.
Now the schools are out how long will it be before a fire starts on the hills?

35 in the shade? Maybe your gadget isn't quite accurate?
Like the one in my car.
Unless you live near this?

It appears quite accurate Karlos as I have checked it against another outdoor thermometer too.
Both thermometers showing 44.3 degreesC in the sun at 11:35am..........could they both be wrong?
Anyway, let’s just say it’s warmer than what we are used to!
Incidentally the greenhouse is recording 48 degrees C now with the door and all vents open. Overnight and closed up it recorded 26degrees C.
Another hot spot which is not too far from where I live:

Amazing to think that in July, Dover is just a few degrees behind Doha! Our current temp (average day) is...

Was down the sea front earlier and there were a family of Hasidic Jews and the father was wearing the traditional black top coat, needless to say he stood out.

And just when I had a fan up and working, we had a 90 minute power cut this afternoon! Back of Tescos again. Lots of disappointed shoppers by the looks of it.....

don't blame them either, along with the shelves being half empty. morrisons, asda, Sainsburys and the coop are in the same boat.

Storms predicted to hit us mid afternoon followed by strong winds and some rain over the weekend then back to normal next week.

Wall-to-wall sunshine forecasters can get right, but rain and storms they're not so good at.
Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't rain at all.

There's a 90% chance it is going to absolutely hammer it down late tonight. I really should have checked this before I got up early this morning to water the garden.

Storms over Calais, storms over Sussex. We could get a double dose! (3.13 p.m.) Or, of course, they could miss us completely!
And 15 minutes later, that last comment looks very likely to be right.........

Don't say that Lew I have an assortment of buckets, washing up bowls and any container I can find without a hole in sitting outside.

The heat brings out the worst in some motorists, earlier I saw a large van reversing in to a drive way on the Folkestone Road meaning a few cars town bound were inconvenienced for a few seconds, the car at the front decided to go around the van and the car behind that decided to overtake the car in front. Thankfully the bus coming the other way slammed on its brakes in time to avoid a head on collision.

A site my daughter has just shown me might give an idea whether we will get a storm later or not, lightening strikes galore inland from Norwich.
Please let it rain here so we get some fresher air even if only for a little while.

Jan, that's the site I've been using. At the moment (4.55 p.m.) there's a huge clump north of Paris which look as though they might be coming this way in a few hours. watch this space........
Maidstone getting it at the moment.

We had a few thousand spots about an hour ago but it has all dried up now. We are still in the midst of a dry thunderstorm but the clouds overhead look rather flimsy ( mini nimbus/nimbostratus ) so I’m not holding my breath for more rain any time soon!
P.S. I looked up the official name for flimsy type clouds and those quoted sounded rather grand!
