14:0269157KEN;
I expect nothing else from you now that the labour party rejected your application to re join.
its fine.
SID;
Let me explain again.
Firstly you obviously agree with me ref the number of so called indies standing for or campaigning for the tories as you made no comment, so your support my view they are not realy independent and I thank you for that.
Labour will still be in control at next town council elections as i DONT EXPECT the indies to gain any sseats, in fact they will be lucky to hold on to the ones they have got.
Of course there are 4 or 5 cllrs who may well allow the indies to run the councl as a minority group?? I will say no more on that.
Interesting also peter not come back on the information provided on Deal Town council, and that the tory on Dover Town council isa very high profile Tory district cllr and county so not a small c
have a nice day

14:0369158Triangles is but a short walk from her home for cllr Revell whereas visiting her ward would according to Keith's definition require a parachute.
I must apologise to Cllr Sue Jones, she also attended on Satrday as a supportive resident(without chain) and Karen and me as fully paid up grandparents. The large number of Labour councillors who appeared after I arrived reminded me of the day I met IDS there, when within half an hour many Labour councillors suddenly appeared including on that occassion cllr Cowan
It has been suggested if you want Labour councillors to attend your event, just tell them I will be there.

14:1269160KEN;
The term PARACHUTE I repeated after SID used that term.
Let me be clear, your the last person I would run after you realy must have a high opinion of yourself.
If I recall correctly I attended with gordo on that day IDS was present because he had an appointment with the triangles officer.
With regard to cllrs in general, no I don't support either party looking at selecting people from other areas.
But sadly politics is so far down everyones agenda, and most of the public dislkeall politicians so much, that candidates are so hard to find, on top of this some of the local media also slag cllrs off once there on the council sad but true

14:2869163Keith, the small c was used to refer to the indies not the Tory member.

14:4469167I was invited to attend at St Rads on Saturday and I live in the Ward,but as I was on night shift,I decided that I needed the sleep more,and if I had know you where there Ken,I would still have stayed in bed.But it was good meeting you in the Town the other day even if you didn't buy me a drink.

Or a Bacon Sandwich.

14:4769168If I stood in Tower Hamlets at Town Council level would it be fair Peter if I stood as an independant,No I could do but as I am a Labour District Councillor I believe the people that I may represent should know my Political leanings,the same as if I was a Tory.

she does not need a parachute, a bus journey would do the trick, failing that she could always borrow john's bicycle.

16:0669177Brian - Hong Kong was on a 99 year lease from China so when the lease was up it had to be handed over.
A totally different situation to the sovereign British territory of the Falkland Isles who's population want to remain British as is their right under the UN's principals of self-determination.

18:0069187JHG that is a little different, the indies do not as far as I know belong to either of the three major political parties. Obviously if you are a Labour Party member the supreme soviet will expect you to stand under that banner, not as an independent, and to toe the party line once elected.
I have supported both Nigel and Charlie in their election campaigns. Not because I am a Tory, I am not a member of any party, but because they are friends and I respect their views, their commitment and their independence of thought.

I think your caption at bottom of your postings says it all,
At least 3 indies(prob more) campaigned for the tories which is fine
also one stood for the tories
which is fine.
rather deflates the INDEPENDENT tag
On town council the labour group just like the alliance GROUP meet up
please dont tell me the indies dont.
I could go further and say a person retiring called friends of mine (whom he didnt know were my friends) and asked them to stand as indies to get labour out.
This person was supoosed to be impartial.
That's the problem, I'm clear in a lefty, labour member, never hidden it, but
some pretend there something, but then you find there not.

19:2169201Mel I have never been a Yes man,I am my own person in a Political group,I may not be as left as Keith,but then only Lenin and Stalin were left of Keith,I do what I can when I can for the people of my ward,the Town and the District.Most of what I or Cllrs do is not spread across the newspapers,but I am luckier than most as I have been able using non political skiils to get things done,and I also have many ideas and concerns and I am lucky enough to get this over to the public,and Peter yes I know the 3 cllrs who are independant but campaign for the Tories and may even be members!By the way Nigel and Charlie are friends of mine,but friends and politics don't mix sometimes.
It is ok someone returning to Labour but as Keith said about Ken who he says had his attempt to join the party turned down,I am not aware if that is correct,but any person standing has to go through a strict selection process.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

you are respected in the work you do, and as you say all parties have selection process where they go to stand candidates in all wards.
As Iv stated earlier I have many friends as members and supporters of the tory party, I never hide where I come from
It rarely causes me probs because Im up front about it

19:2769209Every Councillor has to be interviewed and go before a selection panel at DDC and KCC level.

19:5569222i would love to meet the selection panel, or is it a case sometimes of only having one applicant?
