Brian - the economy runs in cycles, it always has and always will. The banks do not cause this - Brown thought he had 'banned boom and bust', he ran the economy like he had. We had a deluded madman running the economy and now we are paying the price. You do not want to believe this and prefer having scapegoats to cover up Labour's incompetence.

Ollie`s blame game defunct?
Politicians always play the blame game to divert bad news.u-turns,ill-concieved policies etc.but after 18 months the constant propaganda has lost all creditibility.
However the economy will remain the main issue which is why we have seen another outbreak of BSE ( blame someone else )
Labour by not winning the election gave the Coalition an enormous helping hand.
At the outset of the Coalition every Minister did a brilliant job of pinning the deficit on the labour government when it was mainly due to a global financial crisis.
As the effects of the constant propaganda fade away and doubts about the Government`s deficit strategy gain,Ministers have another BSE and excuse ............the eurozone dept crisis which provides a convenient cover for the UK`s flatlining economy.
There`s only one problem.......the economy was growing...........unemployment falling ......when the Coalition was formed ...last year.!!!!
The slow down also started..........last year.........but the eurozone problems did not reach crisis level until this summer!!!!
The highly respected Organisation of Economic Development highlighted this chronology to dispell the constant propaganda.
The crisis on the Continent was also blamed by Coalition Ministers for this weeks depressing rise in youth unemployment to more than one million.
A closer look at the calendar tells the true story. The eurozone crisis intensified in late July and Wednesday jobless figures cover July to September..........but there is a time delay to employment figures of six to nine months...........so the eurozone turmoil can`t be responsible for this weeks statistics.!!!!!!
Senior Tories fear the constant lack of economic growth will outway the eurozone crisis propaganda but many tories ( you know who ) feel it will still be effective in 2015.................What will the voters think?

Excuse me, but the deficit was spiralling out of control long before the crisis hit in 2008. That's like a drunk driver blaming his drinking on the accident he would have hours later. The crash was a result of the burgeoning deficits in Europe and the US, not a cause. How can an effect precede its cause?

more worryingly for the blues is the exodus of many door knockers, envelope stuffers and most importantly the fund raisers to ukip.
hadn't realised it was 18 months that they have been in power, must speak to keith as i have not had my polling card through.
