Yes saw the Star Flyer in the harbour this morning, or the Ghost Ship as PaulB has named it on the fab front page picture taken on his trusty Canon Camera.

If anything brings to mind an image of the Flying Dutchman, the Amazing picture on the Front Page brings this vessel sailing through to the fore
'Fast gliding along, a gloomy bark,
Her sails are full, though wind is still,
And there blows not a breath her sails to fill'
Excellent PaulB

the sea front and pier have notices up before the season starts with all the cruise calls and the d.h.b website has them all.
surely any town retail business would make sure they have all this information when planning their additional opening times?

You'd think so Howard, but some do and some don't; some need hand-feeding and you could ask "why be in business then ?".

Blimey! Kevin was right there when he said there is a big one in today. Its awesome! as our American friends say. Feast your eyes on this for a stunner. The little Braemer also in but dwarfed beside it. Unfortunately it was already in before yours truly woke from his beauty sleep but here she is nestling...
Ah yes the four master was a lovely thing. I see we have gone all poetic above and quite right too.

This one equally worth it, well almost, and should stay a little longer than the four master if anyone wants to see it. Well done with the listings there Colette...helps us out.

I shan't go down there today as it'll be very busy. Here are a couple from last year. The Daphne looks lovely for a 57 year-old

(even tho' she didn't look like that when originally built).
For those interested who are out today Princess Daphne is scheduled to arrive just after 12:45 - saiing at 23:00 and Emerald Princess is due to depart at 16:30.

I've just been down to cruise ternminal 2 to take some day-passes for the cruise passengers who would like to visit the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club, on the sea-front.
Lots of people milling around as you'd expect and quite a queue at the Cruise-Welcome desk, where there was one person working on the currency exchange counter and one on helping the cruise-passengers.
The Lady was working well and helping people when they wanted to inquire how to get to Leeds Castle or Walmer Castle etc. But there was only the one greeter and I know they are volunteers, but unless others were off sick (but there must be a pool of people who can be called upon for help), it was simply not enough, especially when you think there were 3 ships in, 2 at cruise terminal 2 and 1 at 1.
It also showed me quite graphically, how much is needed, a Discover Dover leaflet. A leaflet that has, sorry had, all of Dover's historic sites and attractions in it, a map of the Town showing where they are and of course the good quality shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes.
Don't get me wrong, there are other leaflets down there, but none of them so comprehensive as the Discover Dover leaflet.
Unless someone is going to get a grip with this Town-Team Manager/Co-ordinator and get things moving as regards the Town and Tourism, it will be another year where we have a lot of frustrated cruise-passengers and visitors. I'm not after a job, but someone should be.

de bradelei would have been busy too with 3 coach loads.

It looks like things were busy today alright Howard...here is Richard Mahoney's tour boat this afternoon and it has a full load onboard. I dont think I have ever seen it quite so full. Good news all round.. as a direct result of the three fab ships in port.
Great pix all round guys.

Love the little yellow sail boats with the massive lines of The Emerald Princess in the background
Richard Mahoney's tour boat looks laden to the gunwales
Great to see the town so busy with tourists aplenty

I knew something was niggling me about Emerald Princess and the Daphne .... then I remembered. It was almost exactly one year ago they were both here together, on May 10th. I can't say I like the red paint job on Daphne's funnel or understand the significance of the big A. As far as I am aware she's still owned and operated by Classic International Cruises ..... Oh well!
