I just hope that a genuine enquiry is held to find out who is responsible for this disaster, and I also hope they are punished appropriately , a nice long prison sentence for corporate manslaughter might be just.
I know it won't bring anyone back, but it might prevent any similar disasterts in the future.
Condolences to all concerned.

In what sense? As far as I understand, they are calling for answers to urgent questions regarding various aspects of the building and the regulations governing fire safety. This is no different from anyone else, including pretty much all the newspapers this morning.
What should they do, take the normal mealy-mouthed approach? You know, 'Now is not the time. Today our thoughts are with the families, etc.'

Britain First are nothing but a bunch of ignorant, fanatical, racist barstewards who in their own way are nearly as dangerous the terrorists, they are the ones who help cause the resentment towards the rest of us.

Another sad aspect is that there will likely be bodies unidentified as they are not legally in the country. I read quite a few years back that the average London borough had about 50, 000 undocumented people and it was thought that most were living in council flats or houses with relatives that were legally here.

I hope it's not correct news reports that the leader of Kensington council is blaming the residents on newsnight for the council not putting in sprinklers in the flats.
This is a safety issue and could have saved lives.

I note the response of the borough council is coming in for criticism; given that horrors appear on the risk register of the Kent Resilience Forum, could someone from DDC advise which organisation/agency would take the lead if any of them were to come to pass in Dover district?

The PM certainly gives the impression she is afraid to meet the public, first during the election and now at this tragic event.
The more well known faces visit the area and meet those involved the better, it must help to boost the morale of those in that area.

This is going to turn into the 2011 riots all over again. People will forget what they're angry about and criminals will have an excuse.
Momentum involved in storming of Kensington council HQ.

I would think that many of the fire fighters involved will be too traumatised to carry on in the service.

The Socialist Workers party have been doing the same thing for about 40 years now, even the lettering on their placards never change. We know that people with serious illnesses and disabilities have had their benefits stopped but these clearly fit and healthy individuals clearly don't. Not normally a conspiracy theorist but I do wonder whether Governments need them around irritating us all and thus ignoring the failings of our leaders.

A good example of multiculturalism in action, aided and abetted by rent-a-mob.
I can't wait to find out when the next day is that I can celebrate " diversity "!
Shame that the fire fighters didn't get some extra practice and turned the hoses on them.
An absolute disgrace and insult to the poor devils genuinely caught up in this appalling tragedy.

An absolute disgrace that the Met Police, with the security level being as high as it is, are chasing a load of middle class trustafarian tossers around the capital.
It is shameful that what was a tragedy in a building some half a century old has been politicised as somehow being the entire fault of Theresa May and her Government.

You really must get out more, Cap’n.
The fire at Grenfell Tower is political way beyond your imaginings, not because it has been ‘politicised’ by various of your bogey politicians, bogey Trotskyists or bogey fascists, but because how we live is a political issue. The fact that some of us live in safe mansions in rural acres and some of us in urban wardrobes in dangerous tower blocks is a political issue. The latter is a necessary condition of the former, and indicates the frankly obscene disparity in wealth and power in this country.
The desperate residents of tower blocks in Kensington have lived (and now died) with this stark reality on their doorstep, and the appalling fire has merely provided a focus for their anger in an economy in which quite a few seem to have done rather well out of ‘austerity.’
And by the way, do not underestimate the intelligence of others. Like many of us, the residents of tower blocks are more than capable of thinking and acting for themselves, and will resist being led by the nose by the SWP, Britain First or any other failed political grouping, despite what those great organs of truthfulness, The Sun and the Standard, have to say about it.
