20:2382898Thanks for all the updates, here is mine. Daughter's partner, Duncan, tried to get his car up the hill to Heathfield and gave up so it is back on our drive.

21:5782920Just to let you know we at DCR are publishing the best pictures sent in on our website so please send them in and send in your reports:

Hope everyone kept warm today, anyone know as yet how everything will go tommorrow?
Here at Buckland it is still snowing and we seem to have about a foot still, where we cleared the garden its completely refilled it. Also slippery on the roads, I walked along part earlier and nearly slipped over. Also had ice forming on the windows so stayed in the warm.

09:3382975Transport minister just been on news he was asked a direct question is there enough salt to grit roads, he said there are millions of tons.
on the side roads question the transport minister stated clearly if side roads pavements are not salted then that is a decision of the local council
the govt has provided the salt for pavements/side roads if there not done its local councils who made the decisiion not to.
over to you council forum members

10:1782985I understand that DDC clear the Town Centres and the County clear the Primary and Secondary roads and pavements - which clearly is not being done.

exactly the same problem where i live, absolutely impassable here, no sign of a gritter.
this is totally unacceptable now, lessons have not been learned.

10:4082991Saw them gritting the main roads last night, tried to get a picture of the truck but twas too dark. But it went a fair pace and was trying to cover a lot of ground, but as is clear now its not doing the side streets. The gritting salt does not function if the temperature goes below -10 ..so sayeth the TV expert last night. Im sure the surface of the roads last night was below -10 as even after the gritters the roads were sheet ice in the continual snow. Trucks and cars were crawling with no grip at all. Very very dangerous.
Will add a picture in a min..

10:5182995following on from the previous post..conditions last night in the driving snow. You should just be able to make out the snowfall underneath the streetlights

12:1983011The County Council is responsible for ALL pavement and street clearance and main roads with exception of motorways etc. that role is the responsibility of the Highway Agency.
DDC take street sweeping and refuse contractors off normal duties to support the other agencies.

12:3283015Following on from Paul's post and feeling rather cynical at the moment, I wonder how many roads and pavements in Maidstone are unuseable in comparison with places like Dover.

13:4983029Had e-mails from the council and Terry Sutton our N. Watch co-ordinator saying that there will be no waste collections today in Whitfield owing to severe weather.
It will be collected on the next collection date.

16:0383057not post or milk for the last 2 days, not surprising though.
the pavements and roads are far too dangerous, when i went out earlier i was just in time to see a car skid up the pavement opposit and hit a wall, the car could have only been doing about 10 m.p.h.

16:4483074so if it is kcc 's problem and i know roger was unhappy when i spokewith him this morning.
so what is our kcc member doing about it?>
i recall the labour party being slagged off on here for not posting even though i cvontinued, but its very noticeable our county member once joining DDC cabinet stopped posting.
so is he being whipped into not to post?
