  I have just risked a quick waddle to the gate and back - lovely, beautiful scenery and breathtaking sensations and smells of snow underfoot, but the nagging worry of a busted femur drew me back indoors! My Mother is also "trapped" in her flat and I cannot see me getting up there today. I am rather gratified, though, that I can still appreciate the childish aspects!
  
  Can I just take the opportunity, though, to bring to your attention a fund-raising event that someone I know is doing for homeless people? It is at times like this morning that I properly appreciate having a front door, radiators and a kkettle of my own. please follow this link and have a read. thank you.

  My little grandson has just brought me a loaf of bread .So im ok for beans ,cheese or egg on toast .Last night i felt a wee bit peckish so i opened a packet of chocolate biscuits which i had bought for someones Christma present .
  
  I no longer enjoy this weather .I hate being indoors .If I fall the cat is not able to help me ,so I dont take risks .Thank goodness for the telephone and the radio.

  M20 coastbound closed between junctions 8& 13.
  
  M25 clockwise between Junctions 5 & 6 one lane closed due to broken down vehicle causing delays.
  
  A249 The New Sheppy Bridge has been closed due to weather and should be reopened at 09:00. Traffic can use the old Kingsferry Bridge.
  
  A249 southbound closed between junctions A250 and the A2 due to an incident.

  Heavy snowfalls over night throughout Kent with another 10cm to 15cm to of snow. More snow is expected this morning with another 10cm probable generally and temperatures will remain below freezing in the brisk easterly wind. Worst affected will be Medway towns, Dartford and Gravesham. It should become drier this afternoon and into tonight. Snow should peter out this evening but it will be cloudy and very cold tonight with lows down to -8 deg. C. expected so ice will be the main problem. Milder towards the weekend.
  
  There is severe disruption on the roads despite using all resources available to us overnight. We have worked all through the night running all of gritters on the primary routes continuously. It is unlikely that we will work on the secondary routes today. All roads in west Kent are white with snow and many minor roads are impassable. Ploughs have been fitted to almost all gritters and we are battling 24/7 to keep Kent moving. The drivers are working 12 hour shifts so that the gritters are constantly working. Everything possible that can be done is being done.

  canot ask for any more effort for k.c.c. they are working around the clock.
  
  funnily enough the forecast for saturday is a balmy 8 degrees, could bring some flooding in vulnerable places.

  I mean this in the nicest and most positive way surely there are only a few who are interested in the rest of the county, is there any news about the Dover area improving .
  
  I now hate this bl...y white stuff disrupting everything and everybody, me included, I'm not doing my shift at the shop today.

  the snow has certianly brought out the entrepreneurial spirit in our local children, cleaning the inside of my front window earlier i witnessed no less than 4 estate agents boards being used as sleds.
  
  that was just in my road over a 10 minute period, multiply that all over dover then there can be very few for sale boards up.
  
  personally i think they are an eyesore anyway.

  The Railway one should be Ok I helped in doing all the updates andrepairs to that bridge alot of my welding holding that in place.

  Went to Cheriton and back mid-morning, A20/M20 to J12, then back A20/Court Wood/Folkestone Rd, lots of snow on roads but no problem if you take it easy. Biggest danger is idiots in 4x4 vehicles showing off, not realising that 4WD doesn't help you stop any easier!

  were is the grit for aycliffe this is bus route and we have had nothing up here and they say they are snowed in lazy Bs sitting in the depot drinking tea,cant get to town for shopping were is are caring council siting on there backsides doing nothing. I hope its like this we we go to vote will stay at home then let them moan its a bad turn out, get on your phones or tom toms and get some grit up here PLEASE.

  i think you are being a bit harsh there alan, council staff like everyone else are having problems in getting into work, if indeed they get in at all.
  
  post 33 from the fuhrer states that salt bins are not being filled at present.
  
  they have people out hand salting the main shopping areas.

  how come Russia can go about its every day life in -27 when we in Britain cant get a grit lorry to come to this estate or any other in Dover why is it this council cant do anything for its town folk but look after itself, What happened to the Chains buses and lorries used to have its time this council stopped making excuses and did something were are all these volunteers and people out of work cant council use all this spare Labour to clear roads paths and shopping centers.
