  As with most things there is a compromise to be struck. In my opinion, the prime responsibility of the DHB is to run an efficient and profitable port. In that way it contributes to the local and national economy. Yes, the proposal for a new marina in the outer harbour will take some of the beach at the western end but in return there will be other public realm benefits. From the very early consultations on T2, DHB asked for ideas from the public on what they would like to see.
