Alexander, it would come from the Town and District Councils and if the Harbour Board or People's Port care about the Town, they would chip in too.
We are not talking grand sums here, mostly salary related costs, plus a little more for some initiatives.
You surely wouldn't expect someone to work for nothing would you ?
I've posted on here hundreds of times, what could and should be done to make Dover a cleaner, brigher, more welcoming Town, where locals, as well as visitiors/tourists etc. will be happy to shop. Making cruise-passengers feel like they are wanted, letting them know that Dover is open for business.
Please tell me if I am using invisible ink, or that my postings are a waste of time.

Alexander, the point is it shows you really care about the town and want to see improvements, whether that happens is a different matter.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I had an email from an ex-Dover man who came back to see a friend a short time ago and was so saddened by what he found here that he wrote to our MP.
He travelled round East Kent with his friend, visiting Towns like Herne Bay, Whitstable, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal and Dover and his friend said why is Dover so shabby looking and uncared for.
Following his visit, he wrote to Charlie Elphicke asking him to do something about it; Charlie replied to him (I don't know what he said though) and this chap recently wrote again to Charlie and me too - not sure how he heard about me.
I have written back to him and he has replied. I have now asked him if I can use his letter to try and get something done - perhaps send his letter and my reply to the local Press and Town and District Councils; maybe Dover Harbour Board would like to know too, what years of neglect have done to the Town ? Maybe the People's Port Board would like to know too.
I know his plea is echoed by all on here and I'm sure across Dover; his friend's view is (probably) shared by all those who visit East Kent and Dover, including cruise passengers.
If he says it can be used, I will post both on here and send them to the above bodies.
