After signing, a message appears saying it will be delivered to DDC and similar local bodies. I hadn't appreciated this at the outset.

Hi Mark - it is a petition born out of frustration and innate good manners! I thought it was a good way to politely bring to the attention of the local reps that there is a substantial body of local people who demand improvement and less procrastination. Thank you for signing - please spread the word! It isn't a revolution (sadly) but perhaps part of the evolution.......slightly accelerated.

the district council may not be the body to send the petition to, they will be too busy reading reg's last question.

If only they would read it!!!!!.............They would not let me read it....................Yet!!
Signed with suggestion that we support a Cable Car in Central town site ( there are a few ) to Castle site.
On my travels where ever there was a Cable Car at each station site would be restaurants.street cafe`society, businesss,,banks, shops all doing excellent business not just in the daytime hours but in the evenings and nightime hours.
Imagine Cruise ship visits hundreds of visitors ( not going to canterbury only ) drawn to the town to enjoy Cable Car the environment of a bustling centre and hopefully a ``Lanes``Dover centre.

I just looked 141 signatures, I suspect Bern will be a little disappointed with the response when you consider Dover's population. Apathy rules yet again by the look of it

.
I have just posted details on the 'Kentcafe' freeglesite, I will keep fingers crossed some sign as they live within DDC boundaries.

Thank you Jan. I remain optimistic - we will have to see. It is, after all, only a petition, but it is worth demonstrating to people the depth of feeling, and that is clearly shown on here, so get signing, people!!

I would rather sign your petition than the one that advocates the return of capital punishment.

I've sent it to around 600 personal emails and about 100 or more businesses asking everyone to pass it round.

Part of the problem could be that only one signature per computer or email address, a friend was going to sign who has no computer tried to use mine but it said I had already signed.

There's a lot more people who look in on the Forum than have signed the petition; I wonder why that is ?
By only getting this few names, it is showing the Council that the the majority aren't bothered and are happy with how things are. Can't believe that really.

Roger, where should the money come from, it doesn't grow on trees!
The only form of major income that Dover could expect would be from a port-toll. It would be a considerable daily sum of money.
If a port-toll were introduced, I'd sign the Dover petition, otherwise, what's the point?
