18/11d was very expensive in those days. 'Call and inspect at any time' it says!

The thought of having to visit Mr Alfred Beach the dentist makes me go cold.

It wasn't until the 70's that we had 6 digit numbers Howard. Dover was one of the last surviving manual eexchanges.
Dover 1 was Family Planning and Dover 2 was Crundall's wood yard! My number was Dover 517.

We didn't have six numbers until the 70s, our number here was originally Eastry 665.

Dover Express has 3 published numbers, 229, 2606 and I can't remember the third one although it may have been 679. Does Bob remember?
