done a series on that view a while back charlie, not a pretty sight.
part of the problem is landowners holding out for the highest price for their dereliction so progress on development is held back.
back to the thread subject, 4 p.m. at the town council offices for the meeting, my understanding is that the mayor and town councillors will be taking everyone down the pub afterwards.

Graphically displayed there Howard with your pictures. Very sad sight. We have had so many false dawns.
Well, what a delight to meet everyone at the inaugural public meeting of Dover Community Garden! How marvellous that it has gone so far so fast, and how genuinely lovely the atmosphere was. It is a pleasure to be involved. Thank you for the opportunity, guys!

What happened concerning the DDC sulks about not being asked prior to this great idea going public.

Well I thought it was a very positive and encouraging meeting. But why did you send the cardboard cutout of yourself Keith?

Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Just to clarify the land in question is owned by DDC .No sulks just to proceed with caution.We have all seen what has happened to the garden near Morrisons /A good idea at the time ,
I dont think a DDC rep was present .
For goodness sake - if people get truculent or up their own butts we will simply point it out politely. Job done.

The 'garden' which is only a bit of grass by Morrisons looks just the same as it did when it was first done every time I pass by that way.

a considered reply from our susan there.
the town council have to be applauded for the morrison's garden, not their fault what had happened after.
the important thing in my view is that this joint project from both councils is deemed worthy of some sort of protection.

the idea of a communaty garden is fine,but saying that some where along the line it cocks up.either the ddc,dtc or the genral populance rubbish it.
And what, then, Brian, are you going to do about that given that it is in your town?

So once again the idea should be put down because there is an element in society that behaves in an anti social manner? At what point do you look at the depressing aspects of the town and say, "something positive can be done so let's do it and find ways to keep it nice"?
A community garden is just that, a community thing. If you see litter, pick it up. If you see someone breaking in or trespassing when closed, phone the police. Far better to take action and build a community spirit rather than just give in to those with no aspirations. Picking up an empty can or calling the police (so that it increases the statistics to a point where they have to take action) would be far more effective than doing nothing, other than sitting back and moaning that the council, police or whatever body should do it all for you.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

BRIAN;
You are talking hogwash lol
todays meeting(which yu were invited to attend) was a very constructive one
before you say you were busy you could have passed on your views to others to raise, i notice neither happened.
I Share part of your view with regard to the town, but there are a number of reasons that have been highlighted in other threads as to why this has got to this sorry state.
putting all this aside today volunteers came forward to make a small difference to dover, and to build a community spirit, something that should be applauded.
BERN;
You will see already that the 2 councils have differences and that already has started to roll out on this forum.
CHRIS;
Again i share your view that we should not give in to the vandal, and todays volunters should as i say be applauded.
with regard to your comment on carboard cut out, iv walked the walk in the past 30 years, and so cannot commit myself to projects, as iv done my time, so i ventured down to see what it was all about, and offered my services as to what i could do (which wasnt taken up) and still am happy to do.
there are other ways i can help but dont wantr to commit myself to endless meetings as been there got the tee shirt, im here to help whenever i can
and will, and hope this project takes off.
