17:5881663Sorry Keith, what plot? Georgette could easily be helping Age Concern in another capacity if that is what you are referring to.

All quiet on the county election front (and on this thread too) - I've received no printed communication pleading for my vote whatsoever, and no caller either.

In a statement, Mr Tapp said: “It’s important that all Labour members conduct themselves in a manner that is acceptable, the party clearly have found that this was not the case here and have acted accordingly.
“It’s of course not surprising that an expelled member attacks the party, it just further justifies the decision. "
Reminds me of half of the ducking-stool principle: if you came up breathing you were guilty. No question.

Did you not receive that leaflet from Le Beaney, the Douvres Ouest candidate?

I have had two letters from Reform (went into the bin unread), but have not seen anything else from any party. Not that that worries me as most bumph is usually a load of 'my party is best and the rest are rubbish'.

I can only conclude that a lot of people out there still haven’t watched ‘Adolescence’.

As much as I dislike Farage I hope he follows through with his promise to reduce KCC management and their very full wage packets.
Going by their lack of tv coverage I am not at all surprised the Conservatives did so badly, they obviously had bad advice and useless leadership.
Labour shot themselves in the foot by hitting far to many pockets, workers and employers as well as the pensioners fuel allowance.

Shock one policy party elected
But they will at least come under deep scrutiny .
Once people find out they can't stop the boats they will switch to others
Noticed our local candidate who doesn't believe in political parties being involved on local councils easel elected as a political party councillor .
But having resigned from a tin pot town council with little pressure ,
The pressure , where they will have to make cuts , he will probably resign again .
Total double standards

You reckon Keef?
'All councillors receive a basic allowance (£17,123.06 for 2024/25) to perform their duties.'
Dream on. This is why so many of our previous councillors were well past their sell-by dates - £17,000+ for mostly following the advice of council officers.
Hopefully most of them will find something useful to do during the rest of their short time on this planet. The USA have it correct with the president - two terms is more than enough time to screw things up!
Both Thatcher and Blair ended up believing they were irreplacable.

Even with my most cynical, voters-are-stupid, face on I assume that most people who vote in county council elections are aware that county councils have neither the legals nor the means to 'stop the boats'.
(Unless KCC has a secret navy submerged somewhere in the Medway, and is prepared to use it.)
And who are these 'others', since those who said they would 'stop the boats' didn't stop the boats (mainly because they had no intention of stopping the boats).

Weird
I'm sure quite a,number voted , believing that reform are going to stop the boats!.
On allowance yes I agree , but Mr defriend has shown he can't even stand small pressure having to resign .
I think this post should probably be on the politics page .
When I met the MP prior to the election , they were going to abolish KCC within the next two to three years , it's likely this timetable will come sooner .

Anything that has Labour and Conservative hopping mad (or Tapp-dancing) is a very good thing.
And this is a very good thing indeed.
