13:5481281That means there are four parties competing for the County Council post.
Would it be possible to keep this thread running to know what each party-candidtae has to offer?
Following up on Reg's article in the local paper last week, it would be interesting to know how the future cuts in the County Council's budget will be presented by the candidtaes.
I assume they have a view on this, and an idea of how future spending could be proposed to meet the new budget. Two of them are forumites, so it should be interesting.
I believe the best prospects stand with UKIP, as this party has plans to increase funding in Britain by not giving heaps of money away abroad for free!

00:5381390Georgette is very much her own woman and I can't imagine anyone telling her how to vote, doesn't happen in the Alliance no matter how much you want to believe it does. She has been in Dover all her life and is involved in the Dover Society, has worked as a volunteer in the Roman Painted House, is a qualified Walking for Health walk leader, when she goes into the water on Boxing Day she actually swims and does a lot of work on the Mayors Goodwill Fund. She is also a keen bridge player if you are interested in a game.

08:1481398I like Georgina and I am pleased the Conservatives are giving her a clear run and are not standing for the Town. It seems my old policy of standing aside from the Town Council has been resurected.

08:1681399An excellant choice of candidate, hope she does well.
A forthright honest Lady, beholden to no one. Georgette will always vote for what she believes is best for Dover.

09:2981409This picture features Georgette Rapley so at least the voters on here can see what she looks like. At least now Keef will know her if he sees her in the street ! What her political affiliations are I dont know as I dont know her all that well, never knew she was even political.
The picture shows from left to right...budding Dover Express photographer Phil Medgett eating crackers!, Labour stalwart Cllr John Goodwin (JHG), Georgette Rapley, and Alliance Cllr Chris Precious. The picture was taken at our Christmas party last year at Chapter Eight upstairs...called jessies bar.

14:1281435I did note that no one answersed the deal srtuck by tories/indies on the tories not standing a candidate to allow the alliance party a clear run, and thats very interesting.
Its also very interesting that tory forum members have come out in support of an alliance party member, that to is interesting.

15:2481446Keith - I referred to that. As chairman I had a policy of not contesting Town Council seats as I considered (and still do) party politics redundant at that level.
That policy was changed by Roger Frayne when he was chairman so he could stand and I commented that my policy has been restored - that is very different from a deal. I know that there has not been a deal such as you would love people to imagine.

15:3781453I believe that District and Town/Parish councillors should follow their concsience, that way the area they are representing comes first at all times not what their party dictates from up in London.
Local Elections should be non party political.
