Well done Howard it has taken them long enough, don't forget the fireworks and champagne.
Maybe they would like to collect the ones up Albert Road that have lived on the pavement since their delivery well before Christmas.

That took long enough didn't it. I'm still the only one along here that's had them removed as far as I know. My neighbour's been told his are going but he's still waiting.

Howard how did you manage that? I was under the impression that unless your front garden measured no less than three feet square you could not demand purple bags to replace the wheelie bins. What's your secret?

too emotional to say much at the moment jan.
colin, you seem to have struck lucky.
philip, the only hard standing i have at the front is the path to the front gate.
have you put your case to a local councillor, my local one roger lobbied on my behalf, i have no doubt they would be a permanent keepsake without his intervention.
Well done Howard are you planning a victory parade ?

This is an open letter to the Councillor for Albert Road or any other who takes up this problem.
Please could you do something about the 19 wheelie bins that partially block the pavements in Albert Road as they are on both sides of the road. A young mother with one of those wide double buggies had to walk in the road as she could not get passed some of them yesterday.

the same problem applies in clarendon place, people have to walk in the road to get past some.
those with buggies have no chance.

I have let DDC Waste Services know that Howard and as soon as they can, they will be paying a visit to all those that transgress.

good to hear that roger, some are put out to prove a point.
i was thinking of doing the same but realised it would only inconvenience others who were not responsible for them.
as you know i am two doors away from the pre-school and 4 times a day we have a procession of parents with toddlers going past.

Jan an email sent to Roger Walton telling him of the problem and asking him to enforce the householders to make sure that the bins are kept on thier properties rather than the public footpath.
This may take a few days let me know if/when anything happens.
Thanks
John

I'm sure they are Howard.
It isn't fair on any pavement user to have to walk in the road because someone puts their bins on on the pathway.
Walking down the Folkestone Road yesterday and today, I took photos of the bins on the pavement (some overflowing and it's several days before collection) and other rubbish that's shouldn't be left out.

Bins on the pavement are a danger to cyclists too.

I wouldnt know Peter I ride on the roads where the car owners are king, and they ignore the cyclist. Biggest problem is the Barton Road /Frith Road junction where cars race past you, slow right down and turn left or just turn left the fact you are going round the junction doesnt seem to worry them much.

Well, I've just walked past Albert Road. The reason they're on the pavement is in most cases there's no room for them on their properties. The only way they'll be removed from the pavement is if they're taken away completely.

Yes Colin most of the houses there have a very narrow strip of garden then steps down to the basement door which is used by the occupants of the basement flats.
John thank you for the speedy action

, I will let you know if nothing happens.

Had the Guy from waste services phone me today, here in buckland it has been a nightmare with the bins they have admitted it needs looking at, so we the councillors and officers are meeting to look over what can be done, before it drives everyone insane
