Keith - how do you know my comments on the Labour Party/Government put people off ?
I am not insulting people, I will comment on policies of the Labour Party and Government if I have any argument with them - and there's lots to argue with. I don't abuse people, although sometimes I would love to say more than I do.
Jan - I could not agree more with your post above.

roger;
some posters come on here saying they dont like politics, by your posting on the labour party being abusive towards them, or disagreeing or whatever the content, to some its just anothrer politicl thread.
i will not allow you to put a one sided argument and will continue to challenge you whenever you do.
i have no problem with you challenging the labour party, i do the same myself
but it was interesting you changed the thread from, a woman only shortlist, to the world economy, and thats fine to.
jan; i still support the view that everyone has the right to post even though i may disagree, i have no control who does/is able to post as i said in earlier posts thats down to paulb , howard etc
i did when i heard there may have been a suspension contact paulb for the very reason you suggest jan, im not a believer in banning people, i still d find it strange though that having seen berns comments on face book, that she would want to return, all these comments on all forum members(not just a few) were not denied and chrisp did reproduce them on here in full.
as i said earlier i will continue to post whoever decides to stay here, and challenge when the need arises.
lets not forget the dreary years when the forum got taken over by the tory party thankfully long gone.
we now have a very balanced set of views where many may not agree, but still debate it all on the forum
of course every member also have the choice of reading posts or not as the case may be.
i will not mention again the most populat threads.

Just because a thread has a lot of posts that does not mean it is the most popular among the MAJORITY of forum members. The exception is Howard's long running Where Is It, I can justify that statement by the number of different people who post there.
This thread is now very sadly past its sell by date as it now keeps going off topic.

I fully agree Jan. It's time to give this one the chop. Bern has gone, whether jumped or was pushed has been debated enough. All of the soap boxes have been dragged out and well and truly stood upon.
Can we now move on before this gets even more ridiculous.

Keith, when you used to constantly accuse me of being a Tory party member it used to irritate me slightly. When you went further and openly stated you did not believe my denials I was most offended as I considered your posts abusive. But I have a thick skin and, like you, I believe that we all have the right to post and that all posters' opinions are of equal value, so I made no formal complaint about your abuse. But it's beginning to appear that some members are more equally valuable than others, and until Bern is reinstated I shall keep my contributions to a minimum. The forum is a less interesting place without her (as it would be without you); I have seen nothing from Bern either here or on Facebook that would justify suspension and while I accept that PaulB and Howard, as owner and moderator of the forum, have the right to include or exclude whoever they choose, if they want the forum to flourish it's vital to be fair and to be seen to be fair .

peter
people lose their jobs for statements made on social networks, being suspended from a local forum is hardly in that league.
re; closing of threads.
paul has closed off 3 maybe 4 in all the years i have been a member, i don't think this one fits the bill, up to paul though.

No Howard, not in the same league at all and quite irrelevant to this debate.

peter;
your statement of course on postings is up to you, you can post a minimum of posts, or thousands, all your choice, although the more the merrier, im sure if you do post only a minimum the forum will go on.
but hopefully you will continue to give your views, i may not agree with many, but support your right to do so.
i would never deliberatly offend ,a lot of comments come from my open mind, saying it as it is.
but with this i have a side to have a laugh.
quite honestly peter it matters not to me whether or not you are a member of the conservative party.
im stilll unaware that bern was suspended
i think her facebook comments saying she had finished with dover forum
made it clear she didnt want to return.
the other comments on all the membership of dover forum looked like the last crusade to severe her links.
but like terry and others have said the thread is probably to long long now
jan; taking out the ,where is it thread
there are not many other threads (except political ones) that reach high number of postings.
you can analise that how you wish

It is time to close the thread.
The Dover Forum team have for some considerable time been extremely patient with some offending postings that have
been outside the `Spirit` of the Forum.
A warning post, some weeks ago was given,of a progressive `yellow`card arrangement of suspending offenders which
worked for a very short time but it is now time to move on,
The Forum is for all to enjoy not just a few.

Keith, I am so grateful you will allow me to analyse as I choose, very generous of you.
Reg, Howard has already said he did not think this thread should be closed #89, and who are the few are that you refer to?????

rather telling the viewings of this rather depressing thread against the viewings of the positive jubilee lunch one.
