brings back memories reg - 2 florins would buy a shed load of mojos, sherbert lemons, flying saucers, blackjacks and much more.
such a pity that europhiles like brian condemned us to decimalisation.

Gosh!!!!!!! You lot were rich to be able to spend that much on sweets, I used to get off the bus one stop early so I could spend a halfpenny on flying saucers.

well this certainly got live.
there are a few issues that need correcting/commenting on.
chris p;
no one has said you shouldnt be critical of any ;party, if that was the case you would have been banned
a long time ago. along with many others.
but no we have a very inclusive club, from all different backgrounds/beliefs/ideas
and in the main things run smooth.
jacqui
agree with you
reg
agree with the comments you make
the point still being missed, that bern chose to go
i to wish paulb a happy birthday

My impression is Bern did not choose to go, she was pushed.
When you are suspended you can not log on no warning at all it just happens, I only found out I was suspended when I contacted PaulB because I was unable post.
I guess you have never been suspended Keith or you would know what happens

jan
what a strange post. you have rightly been a fan of bern which i admire you for.
but the comments on face book by bern clearly stated bye bye, thus wanting to leave it was clear for all to see, obviously bern made the decision to slag off all forum members in a moment of haste and now regretting that decision.
i dont know how paulb operates the close down of members who indicate they have no interest in the forum or its members.
its sad that chris p made his innaccurate comments which hardly helped the situation.

Doesn't seem anything strange in Jan's post Keith, why do you say that ?
Surely it is what is put on this forum that matters, not somewhere else (facebook or another forum).
I know PaulB can't tell people what to put, or what viewpoint to have, but there is some drivel on here sometimes and some posts seem to made, just to annoy others.
The Forum should be a good source of information, a good place for intelligent debate and discussion, with some humour thrown in, instead of that, we have (on occasions) just nit-picking and nastiness and people can just give up - as we have seen.

roger;
i dont disagree with your comments, sadly sometimes you involve yourself in these very issues.
but anyway realy its for howard/paulb to decide how to run a forum
and if someone wishes to leave and abuse everyone before doing so
i still for the life of me cant understand why some one would want to return if you hold such an opinion.

ROGER;
Your recent comments on the labour party are exactly what you say on this thread puts people off posting.
there has been quite a lot of personal abuse on here
where paulb has at times had to ask members to calm a little
i think i have said the rest before

Calm is one thing that is more likely to be called for than manifest itself in such a 'vibrant' arena as this. As recent conduct in the HoCs has shown, it ill befits one forum-member telling another to, "calm down dear" and we all should be content to let that duty fall to PW.
I don't do Facebook, but it seems reasonable to me that some form of right to reply should exist when the fell hand of fate cuts a forum-member off from the forum, and I am happy that such a place is not here.
It would be less than correct of me to presume/assume that Bern knows that I would like to have her back here, or that she knows that I am willing to wait until she sees fit to return.
So...Biddy, here I bid ye. Will ye no come back again?
[I'm so wonwy....]

Yes I support Bern as she was/is such an informed poster and this site will not be as interesting without her.
It is very clear Keith and also Reg hold the opposite opinion and are glad there is one less person to challenge their view of life. Having said that Keith is always telling us he values all opinions and the right to voice them.
I have no idea whether Bern regrets her comments unlike some I have not read this other exchange only what has been reproduced on here. It would be nice to know exactly where the comments were made so we could all judge for ourselves.
