Is it just me or has Bern suddenly gone quiet? Where are you girl, we miss you?
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

bern resigned a few days ago chris as you know.
i was sent the facebook page with it on that also contained your post chock full of factual inaccuracies seemingly designed to stir the pot for reasons known only to yourself.

You will have to message me with the 'inaccuracies'.

Following Bern's posting on a completely separate 'Social Network' the following discussion followed. Humour, satire or "inaccuracies', I let you all decide.
Kathy Bailes really bowing out?

Bernie Mayall Probably, maybe.......I am a bit irritated at the moment, but respect that blasted forum as a good place for news and views. To be honest it does give a platform to those who would otherwise probably not share or air their opinions for such a wide audience, so a heartfelt round of applause for that. But the damned political visual impairment and the tit for tat stuff is finding its way right up my nose!

Chris Precious For your consideration, some topics to get you banned. Insulting the Labour Party, Atheism, the idiocy of some posters or questioning the running of the forum. Have fun, I have actually had some better (and more interesting) debates on here - without people thinking they are under attack because you disagree with their point of view on one subject.

Chris Precious So I had better not post a thread about the Labour Party plot, instigated by Tony Blair, to turn the country Catholic as a defence against AD's Knights of the Church of England for a restored British Empire, all to be promoted by the forum as a means of gathering Atheists to be burnt at the stake then. Oops. :)

Bernie Mayall Chris - you promised not to tell!! So we'd better keep schtum about the Tory plot to lure all the unemployed and those on benefits into a pit up at Western Heights and fill it in with quick setting cement, thus achieving not only the removal of all those who are a drain on society, but sorting out the Western Heights planning permission issue all in one hit.........

They don't have the common decency to communicate their action or even offer a warning. The Gordion knot is cut in secret. Jenn, I get to see my lovely face (are you sure about vague?) every day, how lucky am I? ha ha!

Bernie Mayall Sid, I am outraged and disappointed at the level of discourtesy! I had no idea regular, productive and articulate contributors were treated like that. I can see no excuse for it at all. Even if someone is displeased with criticism, there is no need for discourtesy of that sort. Emails take no time to send. There is a tacit acceptance of a "good manners at all costs" on the threads, but clearly that isn't carried further into real life. Well, pishposh is all I can say. I have joined the Reprobate Club with no regrets.

Bernie Mayall Thank you Max, you are kind! Not my call, though - I am suspended. The view is great from up here! the forum is a good one, and I would enjoy being lowered from my suspension, but that would not change the fact that it has been taken over and brought low by silliness and idiocy from some and needs a bit of a sort out. Present company accepted of course!!!!

I do not post on here very much at all now and when I do I like to avoid politics as I have been accused of empty talk because my opinion differs from certain others.
In defense of Bern I must say we had our disagreements but I always respected her opinion as she did mine. She was a valuable contributor and I will miss her and all the other sensible ones that have left the forum. There are still a number of good people left but 2 or 3 individuals seem to have monopolised many threads to the detriment of others and to the forum itself as people are reluctant to post for fear that their opinion will be ridiculed.

I can see nothing wrong it would be a shame if we have lost one of our more knowledgeable posters, I think we need to be told what is inaccurate so we can comment.

I had no idea this was going on. Why was Bern suspended ? I would say she was one of the most articulate and intelligent posters on here.
A big shame and a big loss.
I miss Sid's postings, but I thought he had gone working abroad again, was he suspended too ?

the initial post on the thread seems to have gone missing but never mind it will turn up somewhere.
let's take things one by one chris "insulting the labour party" could get one banned.
have you not seen comments from barry and roger amongst others?
in fact barry has a highly successful blog that does mostly that.

I do it often Roger, and will keep on doing it!!!!
Clearly a lot of very tongue in cheek stuff though but Bern being suspended!! She was always one of those who has always been among the more thoughtful and intelligent and someone I always really enjoyed debating with. I did recognise the frustration she was feeling on a couple of threads, funnily enough with the same people I often get that way over too!!!

I was suspended for three days for innocently voicing an opinion so nothing would surprise me, maybe it depends on who gets upset.

Well.
I have had a trying afternoon, rounded off with a meeting with old cronies where the subject of C2H5OH never came up, (except when it was my round).
I do recall Bern being 'chided' to relax, but I know of no further indiscretion.
While I am sure that I, and only, I am surprised by my own 'longevity', I am pleased that dear Bern has got the weekend off. Who knows, but I might find something by way of distraction between now and Wednesday.
Dash-it-all, I'm missing Star-Trek!!!!!

Barry, I refer you to Bern's first answer. Probably and Maybe hardly sound like resignations, and the rest does speak well of the forum.
Bern's original post, on a separate network where people regularly vent their frustrations etc, was this.
There comes a time in a womans life when she has to say bye bye to the forum. Bye Bye forum. I will so miss the inane posts, the idiocy, the deliberate twisting of words, the dumb-arse prattle, the ignorance, the bias and bigotry and the inverted snobbery. Not.
No resignation was ever sent to this forum and the post was explained in the thread, as can be seen above.
