I didn't realise that the Royal St George golf club in Sandwich still have a ban on women members. I say...ding dong a bit old fashioned isn't it?.

i thought it was against the law, working mens clubs have to admit female persons.

Apparently according to the BBC news the ban is not breaking any EU regulations

There are some groups where gender is specific - the Womens Institute for example. I don't think anyone misunderstands the target audience there as the clue is in the title. But Golf is not, when I last looked, gender specific............

heartiest congratulations to darren clarke on winning the open, a man from a humble background in northern ireland.
what an example that he, rory mcilroy and graham mcdowell set to the handful of numbskulls that want to drag the place down.

yes it was good to see even better when the weather is not good, just shows you how good they are, also i think a vote of thanks should go out to the D,D,C, for their roll in it,I was told that there was not many hold ups, around the roads to the club and Sandwich and Deal.

Not happy at all, at all, about this women golfer banned rule at Royal St George, honestly, in this day and age!

That is easy why women aren't allowed Colette, the Men don't want you women standing around gossiping while holding up the men,and they don't want the greens dug up,I have seen women on a snooker table and they go at it like a navvy in a trench.

lol

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Don't cry Colette, women aren't banned from playing, just from membership. So if you play as a lady guest, honour demands that the gentleman picks up the green fees. And the bill for gin and tonics at the 19th hole. And lunch. Need I go on?
Even Germaine Greer doesn't have a problem with that, according to her article in the Torygraph the other day.

Hotels and B&Bs as well as pubs and restaurants should have done well I wonder if any of our other local business benefited.

Lots of extra meals at the Plough & Harrow, Tilmanstone (not far from the golf park and ride) were served.
