If anyone is wondering what the picture is, it is Lord Lovat briefing the officers of No.4 Commando on the parade ground of the Drop Redoubt prior to a early morning raid on the beaches of Hardelot. It was taken on the afternoon of the 21st April 1942. Tall chap with the moustache is Lt. James Ennis, an ex-policeman who volunteered to join the commandos from the Royal Artillery. Being a ex-copper, he carried a homemade cosh consisting of an iron bar wrapped in a rubber tube to clout Germans with.

I thought that was Lord Lovat thanks for the confirmation Phil, really interesting to see a photo of him briefing at the Drop Redoubt. I'll look into details of the raid at a later date, interesting information on Lt. Ennis

The DTC Consultee comments on the planning application for Western Heights and Farthingloe have been changed and back-dated as below:
Ms A Burton, Dover Town Council
Comment Date: Thu 07 Jun 2012
This Council supports the sensitive development of the Farthingloe Village & Western heights & view site current application favourably. It believes the outline concepts of the applicant presents a once in a lifetime opportunity for the positive development of Dover whilst respecting the heritage legacies & biodiversity of well ? loved local areas.
...DTC now have a very different view of the proposed development to WHPS, EH, CPRE etc - any thoughts?

Yes indeed, well done all. I was impressed with the state of things while looking at the first picture in #50, my eyebrows collided with my hair-line when I scrolled down though.
