A good turnout at the meeting this evening - I think there was something like 45/50 people there in total.
Hopefully explained where we came from and what we attempt to do. A lot of hard work for a relatively small group of dedicated people, most with full time jobs and limited funds!!!
Whatever way the decision on the CGI plans go, they certainly have helped raise the profile of the Heights.
Been nice knowing you :)

So pleased the evening went well and I certainly hope you gained many more supporters and volunteers.

Yes, it was worth doing. The right people were there: some residents of the Heights, volunteers, some GP, and the curious.
Certainly it felt that everyone left with more of an open mind than perhaps they had arrived with.
Phil's stories of 'Forgotten Voices of Western Heights' presentation were as captivating as ever.
Well done to all.

Paul.
If you can get some posters/flyers to me, I will display them for you at KMF?

After the beautiful meeting the other night, it's gone very quiet on the WH front now, hasn't it, Paul-aka-Whatever...?
I propose removing Burlington House from the seafront and rebuilding it block by block at Grand Shaft Barracks. It's part of Dover's history now !

Thought it went well
Think it was a bit of an eye opener to you guys as to how valued your work is but also what a responsibility you have(unwittingly?) taken on before the people of Dover to say and be seen to be doing the right things - 'With great power, comes great responsibility'

It certainly is Mike, but someone has to do it !!
Trouble is the 'right thing' has a lot of different definitions to different people as we have seen here !! Hence why WHPS needs to take a careful middle road and consider all options.... trying to force EH to commit to funding, supporting a developer, simply sittling back and wishing for an anonymous billionaire benefactor - all could work or all could backfire majorly, but there isn't only ONE answer to Save the Heights....

Sunday 19th August is our next monthly workday - plenty of tasks to carry out from weeding, sweeping and clearing rubble.
Meet at the Drop Redoubt for a 10:30 start
Just a couple fof months to go until the autumn open weekend and fingered crossed for some better weather than we had in July !!

A busy day today on the Heights. Tours of the Drop Redoubt, mine and Jeff's guided walk and our monthly work party !!
Well done to the volunteers that braved the weather to shift several tons of brick rubble to uncover more of the 'latrine block' and moved our tools into the new secure tool store

There is lots of this sort of thing on the web when you start looking...

Cant approve of course but shows people are already prepared to arrange groups to come and tour the heights and take some very good pics.

A very apt title Paul... Will refrain from any scheduled lawn mowing or car washing that weekend in an effort to prevent a repeat of the last one!
