Major problem here.........on the basis that we would not buy a second hand car from
any Cabinet Ministerand that they are `members` of the financial elite and culprits of fraud
are also members of the same club..........the mutual interests of the financially elite and
freemasons being looking after number one and their ``friends``
...........there is a considerable conflict of interest here............
Revealed: George Osborne's secret veto on fraud inquiries
Chancellor writes SFO cheques - so is there a conflict of interest?
George Osborne has a secret veto over large and potentially politically sensitive fraud investigations,
Under a government agreement the Serious Fraud Office must get permission from the Treasury
to launch any complex new inquiry which comes on top of its normal budget.
But controversially the Treasury can keep its decisions secret - potentially allowing it to veto
politically sensitive fraud inquiries, either before or midway through an investigation, without public scrutiny.
Ministers have now become the final arbiters of which major financial crimes are investigated as a
result of 25 per cent cuts to the SFO's budget over the past three years

UK GDP figures due amid triple-dip recession fears
Official figures due to be released later will reveal whether the UK has slipped into a
triple-dip recession.
The Office for National Statistics will issue its preliminary estimates for gross domestic
product (GDP) for the first three months of the year.
The economy shrank in the last quarter of 2012. A second quarter of contraction would
put the UK economy back in recession.
But on average, economists are forecasting growth of 0.1%.
A poll of analysts by Reuters resulted in forecasts ranging between a contraction
of 0.2% and growth of 0.3%.
A contraction would mean the UK has fallen into recession for the third time since
the financial crisis struck in 2008.
Economists say news of another recession may have a psychological impact on consumers
and businesses, but they argue that the broader picture of the economy will remain unchanged.
The UK has flat-lined since 2008, and small levels of growth or contraction will have little
impact on that general trend.
They also express caution about reading too much into the preliminary ONS figures, which
are likely to be revised at a later date.

Cameron: telling poor people not to waste food 'does not look good'
The PM admits it "does not look good" for a minister to tell families to waste less food
during the economic downturn but says the government is helping households pay their bills.
Food Banks have doubled since last year.........One third of a million are now directed to them by doctors etc,etc,etc..........
He will never change the nasty party...

Reg I can see the point of the comment though. My daughter although she is on a low wage is very wasteful when it comes to throwing edible food away, either because she "forgot to freeze it" or not using all of her "two for the price of one" bargain.

It's Bojo vs Jojo - so will Johnson Jr come out in front of his brother Boris?
Jo may lack his brother's flamboyant streak - but as David Cameron brings him to the top table,
some say he's the one to watch
Smart, likable Jo Johnson may well be the best man for the job.
Some people say that the really smart member of the Johnson family is the quiet one, Jo Johnson, MP
for Orpington - and we are about to find out a lot more about him. Jo has just been promoted to perform
for David Cameron the role that David Miliband used to fulfil for Tony Blair, running the Downing Street
Policy Unit. It is expected that his formidable intelligence will be applied to the task of helping to put
together a manifesto on which to fight the 2015 election.
The Johnson brothers are clever, competitive and very different. Boris, the older brother, is a
show-off and a risk-taker.

This new ``Poll``tax given litmus paper test.
Universal credit pilot to launch with only a few dozen claimants
Radical scaling back of pilot to include only most straightforward cases causes concern for
charities and opposition parties
The first batch of potential claimants likely to be people recently made unemployed.
Only a few dozen people are expected to claim benefits using the government's flagship new
universal credit scheme when it is launched on Monday and the total number who will qualify
will be limited to 300 a month, in a radical scaling back of the pilot.
The tiny scale and extremely soft nature of the launch has prompted concern from charities
and opposition politicians over how useful the trial will be in exposing weaknesses in the
complex new welfare scheme, ahead of its nationwide rollout, which is due to begin in October.
Only the most straightforward benefit claims will be included in the trial, with any cases with a
hint of complexity excluded. Tameside council, (which is the only place piloting the benefit after
pilots in three other areas were postponed last month), expects just 300 people to start claiming
the benefit in the first month.
The critical test of whether the newly-designed computer programme can cope with the pressure
will remain unanswered at this stage because of the small quantity of individuals likely to be
logging on to the system.
Nigel Keohane, deputy director of the Social Market Foundation, a cross-party thinktank, said the
department appeared to have removed any difficult scenarios from the initial pilot
*******. "In essence, they are testing the simplest group and only a very small number of them."******

Headteachers mock Jesse Norman's claim Eton breeds best public servants
Tory MP says number of old Etonians in government is due to other schools not having same
'commitment to public service'
Jesse Norman MP, himself an old Etonian, is now a high level policy adviser in the Tory
government.
An attempt by one of David Cameron's policy advisers to defend the number of old Etonians
in government backfired when he was lampooned by headteachers for claiming that Eton was
better than other schools at promoting a "commitment to public service".
Jesse Norman, the Tory MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, himself an old Etonian,
suggested on Saturday that its pupils received the best grooming for office because of the values
the school instils in them. "Other schools don't have the same commitment to public service.
They do other things," said Norman, who was one of two old Etonians to be promoted to top policy
roles by Cameron last week.

Ed Miliband prepares Labour for major autumn reshuffle
Labour leader plots big changes with a warning to frontbench team that some 'need to
make their mark'
Miliband is being urged to do more to promote young talent within the party.
Ed Miliband has put the shadow cabinet on guard for an autumn reshuffle with a series
of warnings that the party cannot afford any ill-discipline or coasting in the buildup to the
2015 general election.
Sources close to the Labour leader say Miliband is likely to make significant changes to his
frontbench team after the autumn party conference in Brighton in September.

Surely it makes more sense to make the changes before the conference so that the new blood have a chance to set out their stalls.
