About two weeks ago there was a post on the forum asking for six members of the public to go to the above meeting, and lunch and travel expenses would be provided.
Well I will be going if any one from the Doverforum got a ticket too, and do not have a car please just email me and you can come with me. It is a Budget Consultion and that is all I know at this time,if I am the only one going,i will do a report about it when I get back.Thank you.

I went to that meeting today,I only saw one other person I know from Dover. I do not think any of you wish to read a report about it . So that is that. Thank you.

Howard you are right with that,I will have my tea and think about what you said.
How dare you, Vic, assume we do not want to know what happened there. We may not want waffle or bias, but we certainly would value a summary. Your post seems to be saying that because only one other person from Dover appeared to be there, or that no-one wanted to travel there with you, we are uninterested. And if you did think that, why bother posting that pithy comment letting us know you had been were were not about to share any information with us? Insulting on all counts I think.

Ok we will give it a try and see how we get on.
It lasted from 10.00hrs till about 1500hrs we all had a main meal and Got the cost back of geting there and back home again.
It was all about how the K.C.C. could save funding with all the cutbacks it is having to deal with.#
Part of the day was taken up with how to save the £20million the K.C.C must make. So they had 19 proposals on the table for us to vote for or Against, each proposal also showed how much saving would be made with that posposal, this is the first one.
The totel Saving for this one Proposal would be £1million
{1} Street lighting-The proposal.
(a) Turn-off streetlights between midnight and 6am (Saving £1million)
There are 120.000street lights which are the responsibility of the KCC. Electricty bill for this is £5million (with a further £4million spent on maintenance)
To make savings we would have to invest in technology to fit timing devices and consult with local communities, Police and safety organisations.
Against The proposal.
(1)People may feel less safe to if street lights on their roads were turned off.
(2)Lights could be dimmed and not switched off completely and this would still save some money and carbon footprint.
(3)Increase in Traffic accidents.
Now For the proposal
(1) Experience from other councils which have already switched off lights suggests that neither accidents nor crime increase and, in some areas, annti-social behaviour can decrease ,as it makes certain areas less attrctiveto hang around.
(2)Not only makes a difference financially but also environmentally by reducing Carbon emissons.
Now before I tell you which way I voted please note that M/ROADS LIGHTING is nothing to do with the KCC.
Right then this is the way I voted Against the posposal, but for Lights in the streets to be dimmed and not switched off completely and this would still save some money and cardon footprint.
Well that is the first out of 19,I do have at hand all 19 proposals on the table we can take on the lot of them over the next night or two or end it with this one,it is up to you. if you wish to go head with them all one by one,and see how I voted.
I couldnt attend as I was on call for work due to last minute staff sickness.

As you can see Bern,Our posts crossed, and I am doing what you asked, but what i will not do is keep posting without anyfeed back from the forum, all the time I get feed backs I will carrie on,even if they do not agree with me ,but my time is limited with lots to do, so I do not have the time or the wish to, keep writing if no one is taking no notice.
But you have time to post that you won't be posting?

This is ridiculous!
Why do we have to wait for Matcham to tell us about it anyway? Is there not some way to get a transcript, or even a a summary of the results of the meeting from the KCC? I'm sure if we had an official report that we could all believe we would know for sure that it was correct. After all we all know that Matcham gets confused and gets the facts wrong on some occasions (no offence meant).
Maybe PaulB or Howard could get the official results?
Bern, as usual I totally agree with your comments
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

With regard to post10 - we all know you are busy feeding horses, going on TV programmes, doing jigsaw puzzles and running the information kiosk so why bother posting at all? If there is anything we should know I have no doubt we will hear it from PaulB who gets the news before others do.

Jacqui, you would agree with anyone who anti-Matcham. I do not even know who you are. So why you keep on about myself I do not know or care.
I was not anti-Matcham Vic, and you must know that. I have a lot of time for you and have defended you more than a few times. But this thread was very irritating on a number of levels including you posting that you weren't going to post and implying it was because we weren't interested because we didn't turn up. If you are going to post, it would be helpful if you considered the effect.

That's at first thought a very good proposal with the street lights, to dim them after a certain hour, however I still think it is not a good idea after all.
There would be too many dangers lurking for unaware people.
I would rather have full illumination and more CVT surveilancve as well, for public safety.

So far you have done is keep having digs at me ,and I do not care a dam about that, but please read post 8 all I what to know do I carrie on with the rest of it or not there still 18 proposals to read out and get your views on for or against, forget that it is me writing them out,and who and who did not go to this meeting ,what is of importance your veiws on the Proposals that I have in front of me and your views on them so I can get them back to the KCC A.S.P. or do I just put them all in the bin and forget about them.
We are looking for six ordinary people to represent Dover residents at a consultation event in Maidstone on Saturday 29 October from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
Mr Matcham....I think you can be accused of mis-prepresentation...because you are certainly not "ordinary"......
Good Grief they must think Dover has no "ordinary" people to offer .....
just one person turned up and it was Vic Matcham.......
With respect to you Mr Matcham...you have produced a very adequate report on how the KCC are dithering....and, ofcourse you got a free meal...always a necessary perk..............
I think it is hilarious..............
