Terrific event, well done to all who took part. Great Photos from you Guys
The weather was lovely and the place was still buzzing when I arrived from work at 15.30. It was good to see so many friendly familiar faces, Guzzler, Phil, Ted, Una and Ronnie to name but a few. Sorry I missed you Roger. It was really nice to see you again Alec, it seems so long! Also, as always, good to see BarryW and to meet the lovely Janet.
Sorry I missed you Howard, the swinging boats were empty when I got there but I was sorely tempted
Will post some of my photos very soon.

Was down there with Lorna and the younger kids from about 1030 this morning, but had to go to the Girl's Grammar School PFA Summer fair for 1230 and then back to Eythorne to play with the band at an afternoon event at the Baptist Church hall. Great time at the Armed Forces Day, lots of interesting people, good music and plenty of fun for the kids.

Interesting. I thought the Hanomag was the Sdkfz 250 half track, this vehicle looks more like the Sdkfz 222 or 223 reconnaisance car, but the front is far too broad. I'll have to dig out my old Airfix modelling days books from the loft. No matter, it looked brilliant as did all the German re-enactors with it.

Phil - I will see if I can find out more today.
The Germans had such a huge variety of equipment and versions.
It is though, as you suggested, more likely to be another vehicle modified to look like a Hanomag.

Terrific pictures there guys all round. Totally marvellous coverage. Ive also now added a few pictures to the frontpage of the opening moments yesterday morning.
A great and most enjoyable event. Good crowds too.
Weather not looking as good today as yesterday...there is scope for improvement as I write.

Following on from Ed's pic there in post 45. here is the shot i got at the time of Ed's photo...it's Charlie being photographed by the local newspaper.
There are several Pauls operating on this forum and we got together to form an ice cream consortium to make a bit of a killing at yesterdays event. Entrepreneurs we are and no mistake..here below is the sum total of our efforts!
...but seriously though a nice little ice cream trike from yesteryear. Stop me and buy one!
As mentioned - more pix on the frontpage.

Very impressive, sad to say I could only make a flying visit but great to see all enjoying the day.
Well done to all responsible, lots of hard work I'm sure.

just been sent some photos of today's proceedings.
how many dover "celebs" can you spot in this picture?
here we have a very talented young keyboard player named cody lee.
a very familiar face here, reminds me of that song "when irish eyes are smiling".
this sums up the success of the event, dark clouds and the threat of rain but dover people turned up in droves to enjoy themselves.

The German armoured personnel carrier was built for the film 'A Bridge Too Far' and was the one that led the German attack across the bridge with an officer leading in the top. It was based on a version of the Hanomag.
Two bits of info:
One man who came down specially for the weekend from Crawley said he might be able to get a replica (non-flying) Spitfire down for us next year. Be great if he can do so.
Another couple came down from Edinburgh, arrived at 11am Saturday and enjoyed it so much they stayed until the end missing their ferry....
Thank you all for coming along and supporting us.
We had a great team who work brilliantly together on these weekends. Now, what about another remembrance concert, mmmmmmmmmm I wonder....
