A new initiative has been set up to provide support for people who are in isolation and have no family or neighbours to help them.

New Dover support group launched for those needing help during isolation
Together4DOVER (Covid 19 Support) has been established by a core team of representatives from various local groups and organisations and operates under the umbrella of Dover Big Local.

They have recruited a number of volunteers who are starting by offering to do essential shopping and picking up prescriptions from local pharmacies, working in partnership with DDC and other support organisations, and referring residents to additional help where it is needed.

Other services are being developed and will be brought into operation during the coming weeks.

Working in conjunction with Dover District Council, they have set up a single helpline phone number which people can ring if they need help, but have no-one else to support them.

As well as covering the whole of Dover - from Aycliffe to Buckland Estate and St Radigund's to Maxton – the organisation also covers surrounding villages including Alkham, Capel, Eythorne, Elvington, Guston, Hougham, Kearsney, Lydden, River, Temple Ewell and Whitfield.

People needing help can call the helpline seven days a week 9am to 5pm on 01304 892519.

Out of these hours please call KCC 24-hour helpline 03000 419292.

Those needing urgent support please contact the DDC helpline 01304 821199.
