Community litter pick and clear up day in Clarendon Road area

Tuesday, 24 April 2018
Dover District Council is inviting people to come along to a community litter pick and clear up in the Clarendon Road/Clarendon Street area in Dover on Saturday 28 April from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Members of the community are invited to help with the general litter pick, or to take their waste directly to two refuse trucks that DDC has provided for the day, one to collect general waste and one to collect 'white goods' like fridges and freezers.

Volunteers are gathering at the start of the day at the Folkestone Road Community Hub at Clarendon and Westbury Hall on Belgrave Road at 8.15am.

The refuse trucks will be collecting general waste and white goods at:

  • General waste - junction of Belgrave Rd/Clarendon St from 8.30am to 10.30am, and junction of Malvern Rd/Clarendon St from 10.30am to 12.30pm
  • White goods – junction of Malvern Rd/Clarendon St from 8.30am to 10.30am, and junction of Belgrave Rd/Clarendon St from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The clear up is being organised by DDC with funding from the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner. This is part of their ongoing work to tackle litter, to engage with communities, and to continue to keep the district clean and safe for everyone.

Cllr MJ Holloway, DDC Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "This is DDC facilitating a clean-up blitz having listened to residents who are rightly concerned about the accumulation of litter and rubbish in their neighbourhood. We hope that by getting the community directly involved, we will deter those that drop litter and dump rubbish, helping us to make sure the area remains clean."
