Murder charge following baby death in Dover

Detectives investigating the death of a baby in Dover have charged a man with murder.

Kent Police was called to an address in Crabble on Saturday 7 January 2017 by South East Coast Ambulance Service following a report that a nine-week-old baby had been taken to a local hospital in a seriously ill condition.

The baby was transferred to a London hospital later that day. She died on Monday 9 January 2017.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have been investigating the circumstances behind the death and today (Wednesday, 29 November 2017) they charged James Ring with murder.

The 21-year-old, who is formerly from the Crabble area and had been bailed to an address in the North Kent area, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court via video link.
