A burglar who left his prescription medication in a pile of stolen goods has been jailed for 27 months.

Wayne Sart, 37, of Christchurch Way in Dover, abandoned the items just hours after burgling a property in Dover in June. Officers tracked the crime to a nearby graveyard where they found expensive handbags, electronics, alcohol and car keys.

The goods included his named medication.

Sart was also linked to a theft in May, where power tools and equipment were stolen from a van in Dover. Blood was left on the lock and the rear door was left slightly open. A DNA swab linked the blood to Sart.

He was arrested and appeared at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 17 July 2017 where he pleaded guilty to counts of burglary and theft.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Dennis Webster said: "Sart committed these offences without a thought for the consequences or the impact it would have on the victims.

"His actions ensured officers were able to seize vital evidence which linked him directly to the crimes.

"I hope this sentence will end Sart's destructive behaviour and provide some solace to those affected by his actions."
