Wednesday, 2 March 2016
Dover district recorded the highest level of housebuilding starts and completions across East Kent in 2015.

Figures for 2015 released by the Department for Communities and Local Government show that work started on 350 new homes in the District last year, up from 190 in 2014, whilst 360 new homes were completed, up from 260 in 2014.

Further growth is expected in 2016 with a further 100 new homes as part of the ongoing development of Aylesham Garden Village by Barratt Homes and Persimmon Homes, and the start of Phase 1 (94 homes) of the Whitfield Urban Expansion by Halsbury Homes. Taylor Wimpey is also due to start construction of 230 new homes on land off Station Road, Walmer.

Cllr Paul Watkins, Leader of Dover District Council, said: "These latest figures show that we are delivering on our promise to build a wider range of housing for local people and the growing number of people looking to move to the district to enjoy our coastal lifestyle and excellent transport connections.

"House building is a key part of our regeneration agenda, alongside initiatives to create new employment, and improve our town centres."
