Dover man jailed for robbery

Monday, 6 June 2016
A 22-year-old Dover man has been jailed for more than four years for a robbery.

Stuart Turnbull of Tower Hill, Dover denied committing a robbery at New Street, Ash on 1 February 2016 when a man was violently assaulted and his shoes, bag, cash, a ring and other personal possessions were stolen.

Turnbull was arrested by police officers after the robbery when they recognised his description as being similar to the offender in the robbery. A knife and cannabis were seized from his car. The Court heard that he was wearing training shoes identical to those stolen from the victim at the time of his arrest.

Turnbull was charged with robbery, possession of cannabis, possession of an offensive weapon and driving offences. He was sentenced to a four-and-a-half year prison at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday 27 May 2016.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Kelly Snowden said: "This was a violent, unprovoked attack that has had a significant impact on the victim."
