Community celebrations for the Queen's 90th birthday

Friday, 15 April 2016
A range of community celebrations are set to take place across the country to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, and Dover District Council has launched a guidance and application pack to help those planning street parties for the Queen's official birthday on 12 June.

Communities around the country are also lighting beacons to celebrate the Queen's birthday on Thursday 21 April and there will be a number of beacons in the district. Further details on beacon lighting events including links to local events are available on The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations page on the DDC website.

Becky Dyer, Community Development Officer said: "Organising a street party just for residents and neighbours is easy, and we have simplified the application process to help everyone. The number one tip for holding a party is to plan early, share jobs out amongst residents, and get in touch with us at least 4-6 weeks in advance."

For more information on local beacon lighting events or street parties contact DDC on 01304 872421 or email events@dover.gov.uk, or for more information or to download a guide to organising a street party see The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations page.
