Thursday, 12 November 2015
'The Wing' in Capel-le-Ferne has been highly commended in major awards this week celebrating the best in construction in England and Wales.

At the Grand Finals of the 2015 Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards 'The Wing' at the Battle of Britain Memorial was highly commended in the Best Small Commercial Building category.

More than 1,000 projects across England and Wales were nominated for the prestigious awards, which led to 14 winning and six highly commended developments. The regional awards saw more than 3,500 local authority building control clients and surveyors taking part, making these the biggest business-to-business awards series in the UK.

The project team was Epps Construction Ltd, Godden Allen Lawn, The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, Woodley Coles and Crofton Design. The Local Authority Building Control team was Dover District Council.

This also follows news that 'The Wing' was named the Regional Winner 2015, and the winner in the 'Excellence in Planning and Design for the Public Realm' category at the recent Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) South East Awards.

Martin Leggatt, Head of Assets and Building Control at Dover District Council said: "We are delighted that this great example of the excellent standard of construction work in the area has been recognised. As a wide range of regeneration projects continues to take shape, we were very pleased to be involved with this project, and we continue to work with contractors to ensure that excellent standards are maintained across the area."
