Putting litter in bin is child's play for prize winning toddler

Monday, 8 June 2015
A three-year-old from Dover has shown that putting litter in the bin is child's play - and has been chosen as the latest winner in an innovative campaign to help keep the town clean and tidy for the future.

The prize winning toddler, Riley Bungay from Dover was selected as the May winner in a Council-run reward scheme, after he was seen putting a packet from a new toy and an empty juice bottle in the bin. Riley was seen helping to keep the town tidy while he was out with his mother Sarah Kneeshaw in Biggin Street in Dover.

Dover District Council is working in partnership with Dover Town Council to trial the 'Pick It, Bin It, Win It' scheme, which was launched in February. The scheme is in addition to DDC's robust approach to enforcement. People seen disposing of litter responsibly, or picking up after their pets in the Dover Town area are being rewarded with a post card, which allows that person to enter a monthly prize draw, and gives them the chance to win a £25 'Love to Shop' voucher.

The April winner of the reward scheme was Miss P Godden from Dover, who was seen to clear up after her dog in Connaught Park.
