Dover District Council brings in afternoon appointments

Monday, 16 November 2015
A new appointment system is being introduced in the afternoons at the Dover District Council offices in Whitfield from Tuesday 1 December, meaning people will no longer have to queue at these times and can book an appointment at a time that suits them.

DDC is moving to pre-booked appointments only in the afternoons for a trial period for all council tax, benefits, planning, parking and general housing enquiries. Appointments will be available between 1.30pm and 5pm, and can be booked in person or by calling 01304 821199 up to a week in advance.

The current drop-in system, where people wait for an adviser, will continue in the mornings. The appointment system will not apply to homelessness enquiries.

Cllr Michael Conolly, DDC Cabinet Member for Corporate Resources and Performance said: "The new appointment system will allow people to fix a time that suits them to visit the council, meaning they won't have to wait around in a queue. However, for those who do just want to drop in, we will still be able to see them in the mornings. We will keep the new system under review, listening to what people say to make sure that our customer services continue to meet local people's needs."
