Celebrating Community Hub success

Monday, 3 August 2015
A range of community partners gathered at the Folkestone Road Community Hub in Dover to welcome the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Ann Barnes last week, to celebrate the ongoing success of the Community Hub, which is funded by the PCC and is led by the Dover District Community Safety Partnership.

The hub was set up in January to bring members of the community together and promote cohesion and integration. It has been a great way to help people interact and have fun, and access information and advice. The hub has delivered a number of projects, from art and craft workshops to cooking sessions, music and a range of games and activities. The hub is open every Wednesday from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.

Nadeem Aziz, Chairman of the Dover District Community Safety Partnership said: "The Community Hub project has been a fantastic success and it was great to show the Police and Crime Commissioner some of the wonderful work that has taken place. It was also an opportunity for the PCC to meet some of the community who attend the hub and agencies who support the project."

Ann Barnes, Kent Police and Crime Commissioner said: "The Dover Community Hub is a fantastic resource for local people and I was really impressed with what I saw. I'm delighted that my office was able to provide funding for this project - which supports priorities in my Police and Crime Plan - and hope it continues to be such a success for a long time to come."
