Plans submitted for demolition of Centurion House

Thursday, 26 June 2014
Dover District Council has submitted plans for the demolition of Centurion House in Bench Street, Dover, and for the site's redevelopment as a car park with 56 spaces. This will complement the 445 parking spaces planned for the 120,000 sq. ft. St James's retail and leisure development to be located opposite the site.

Centurion House was purchased by the Council in December 2007 and has been vacant since July 2013. Its purchase was part of a series of land acquisitions to enable regeneration and redevelopment in the town centre.

The plans for the Centurion House site also include proposals for a café kiosk, and enhancements to the visual appearance of the site, including tree planting and an innovative art display banner/screen on the exposed flank wall on Bench Street.

Details of the planning application can be viewed online at www.dover.gov.uk/planning (application reference 14/00554).
