Minister visits Multipanel to celebrate multi million pound manufacturing success

Monday, 30 June 2014
Dover District Council is welcoming news that manufacturing firm Multipanel UK Ltd continues to make its mark as another success story for the district. The company's new facility in Eythorne has meant multi million pound investment and new jobs in the area - and it was visited today by Matthew Hancock, Minister for Skills and Enterprise.

Multipanel UK is now in production at their new manufacturing facility on Millyard Way, Eythorne. The company says that capital investment in the next two years should be around £12.5m, with around 70 jobs directly or indirectly created.

The company, which specialises in the manufacture of aluminium panels, was previously based in China. The company has now moved its manufacturing operation to Dover District, with the area's unique geographical location and excellent links to the rest of the UK and Europe.

As part of a ministerial visit today, Matthew Hancock met company representatives and other guests at the Eythorne site. Representatives from Dover District Council were also invited to attend.

Cllr Paul Watkins, Leader of Dover District Council said: "This is a significant international business investment in Dover District that has global reach. It is another sign of ever-growing investor confidence in the district, building on our connections to the rest of the UK and the continent. We continue to work with Multipanel and our partners, including Locate In Kent, and are pleased the Minister has recognized the importance of this facility, and the district, and visited today."

Andrew Cock, Multipanel UK MD said: "Investing in the East Kent area was really the right decision for our business. We have fast access to Europe by truck and our customers can easily come over to see our production facility. We are delighted with all of the assistance we have had throughout our project."

Minister for Skills and Enterprise, Matthew Hancock said: "It is fantastic to see firms such as Multipanel bringing jobs back to the UK and investing in Dover. Visiting Multipanel today has given me a chance to see for myself how, with the support of the local council and local MP Charlie Elphicke, the company is using Dover's prime geographic location to help drive business growth and create jobs."
