Grants available to help local groups celebrate military connections

Monday, 18 August 2014
Community groups across Dover District are being invited to apply for grants from £100 to £250,000 for projects that bring together the civilian and armed forces communities - and groups are reminded the deadline for this round of applications is 1 September.

Community groups were invited to apply for funding from the Community Covenant Grant Scheme following the launch of the Covenant in June 2013. Groups in Dover District successfully applied for grants of more than £22,000 in the first round of funding, and over £80,000 in the second round earlier this year.

The grants are provided to support projects that strengthen the ties or understanding between members of the armed forces community and the wider community in which they live. Funding is from the Ministry of Defence, and is administered and promoted by Dover District Council. Applications are considered by a MOD Regional Board.
