Dover man charged with four offences of theft from shops in the town

A Dover man appeared before magistrates on Friday (28 February 2014) charged with four offences of theft from shops in the town.

Benjamin Aldred, 26, of Rokesley Road, admitted the thefts - three of alcohol from the Co-op in Castle Street and one of £20 of prepared meals from Marks and Spencer in Cannon Street in January and February.

He was sentenced to 120 days in prison, suspended for 18 months.

A 12 month supervision order was imposed on Aldred, who appeared before Medway magistrates via the virtual court link from Folkestone police station. He was also ordered to carry out a six month Alcohol Treatment Requirement and pay £79.96 compensation, £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £80.
