Dover District Council has given the go ahead for Business Rates discounts of up to £1,000 for qualifying businesses with a rateable value of up to £50,000, as part of a national Government scheme for 2014/15 and 2015/16.
Government recommended that Councils use powers under the Localism Act to introduce the discounts, and Government will fully reimburse local authorities.
At its meeting on Monday (12th May 2014), Dover District Council's Cabinet agreed to introduce the discounts for 2014/15 and 2015/16. The Business Rates 'Retail Relief' will be available to a range of shops, restaurants, cafes and drinking establishments.
