Arrests in Dover and Deal as burglary campaign continues

Five arrests have been made in Dover as part of a campaign to target burglars across the south east region.

A warrant was carried out at an address in Maison Dieu Road in Dover on Thursday 30 October and Kent Police recovered a number of items believed to be stolen. A 46-year old man from Dover was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. He was bailed until 11 November pending further enquiries.

On Wednesday 29 October, officers responded to a report of young people acting suspiciously in Folkestone Road, Dover. When officers attended, the suspects left the scene but were later arrested near Dover Priory. A number of items including phones and sat navs were recovered which had been identified as potentially being stolen.

A 17-year old boy from Deal and a 15-year old boy from Dover were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, they have been bailed until 13 November pending further enquiries.

Two boys, aged 16 and 15, both from Deal, were also arrested. They were charged with receiving stolen goods and appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on 31 October where the case was adjourned. They are due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates' Youth Court on Tuesday 4 November.

This autumn Kent Police, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley Police are working together in a joint burglary awareness campaign 'Burglars mess with your head, not just your home' - the first campaign of its kind stretching from Chichester in the west to Margate in the east.
