You Decide events return to the Dover District

Monday, 24 June 2013
Community groups looking for funding for projects that can show benefit to the local community are invited to apply for grants of up to £2,500 from the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums. Successful projects last year included day care centre improvements, a community event, and a bird's nest swing for a recreation project.

Dover District Council and Kent County Council have again allocated funding to the 'You Decide' Grant Scheme for 2013/14 and will host events in each of the Dover District areas (Dover West, Sandwich, Dover North, Dover Town, Deal and Walmer).

'You Decide' events directly involve local people - residents, community groups and representatives from all parts of the community - in voting on grant applications, and making recommendations on how the grant money is spent on projects in their own area. This is with the aim of increasing transparency, accountability and involvement in local government affairs.

Kent County Council is administering the funds and application forms are available from KCC Community Engagement Officer Shuna Body or can be downloaded from the DDC and KCC websites.

Eligible local groups applying for funding will be asked to attend a 'You Decide' event in their area, held during October and November 2013. Details of these events can be found on the application forms or on the DDC website.

The closing date for applications is 13 September 2013.
