Motis increases jobs at Freight Services Agency

Monday, 13 May 2013
Motis, the freight services specialist that took over the Freight Services Agency (FSA) at the Port of Dover at the end of last year, has increased jobs at the FSA by almost 50% since the deal.

Reflecting some of the key reasons for the deal, the increase in jobs will enable Motis to deliver enhanced levels of customer service, as part of the Port's drive for world-class standards of customer service across its businesses, whilst securing the long term future of the FSA.

The Port's youth engagement, employment and skills agenda is also being delivered by Motis as the additional jobs have been created under the Government's apprenticeship scheme.

Tim Waggott, Chief Operating Officer, Port of Dover, said: "The Port's key driver is providing the very best customer service and to grow a vibrant and sustainable business that supports jobs and provides our young people with opportunities. Such growth in jobs is excellent news for the business and for our local community in Dover."

Robert Hardy, General Manager, Motis, added: "All of the additional jobs, eight in total, have been filled by local 18-24 year olds who were previously unemployed. We are delighted that we have been able to create new jobs and help local young people back into the workplace as part of our aim to support the local economy."

The Port together with Motis, which is also looking to enhance security provision at the FSA, will be announcing more news later in 2013 with a planned investment in a 300-space secure truck park in the Western Docks. This will make a significant contribution to tackling the County's lorry parking issues and further reflects the Port's commitment to delivering major investment throughout its estate.

Mr Waggott concluded: "If using other providers offers the best service for our customers, creates jobs and grows the business, that is what we do and that is why we do it."
