Rush, a Sigma 35, owned and skippered by Ken Lees from Deal raced to first place in the Noot Cup, the prestigious round the Goodwin's event. He and his crew also finished third overall in the week's Class 5 Cruiser race series.

Ken said: "Ramsgate week is always a well organised and enjoyable event. The three Royal Cinque Ports boats performed very well, and all achieved at least one first three position during the week.

"Bearing in mind that a good number of our crews have come through our training system in the last few years it was extremely rewarding to see how well they performed in a prestige Regatta."

Bernard Sealy's Karibia Breezes - a noted heavy weather performing boat - gained third place in its class despite the light winds that prevailed. Stronger gusts on the Saturday saw a triumph for his all women crew in the Malbeac Trophy.

Graham Eggleton, sailing his Sigma 33 - Falcon - finished fourth in the cruiser Class 6 competition.

Ramsgate Week is the Royal Temple Yacht Club annual regatta, held this year from Monday 12 August to Saturday 17 August, and is widely recognised as the friendly regatta and the alternative to Cowes Week.

The Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club's own regatta will be held on Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September and sailing taster events will be available. For further information or to book a place contact the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club on 01304 206262.
