Dover lifesavers soap up the sunshine

Monday, 28 January 2013
The sun came out to shine in Dover on Saturday when volunteers from the Dover Lifeboat Crew got together with a crew from Dover Fire Station to wash cars in aid of the RNLI's annual SOS fundraising day.

Setting up their pitch in the Asda car park in the town early on Saturday morning paid dividends as the rain stopped and the clouds cleared meaning a steady queue of dirty cars waited to be sent on their way gleaming.

Dover Lifeboat's Operations Manager, Roy Couzens said: "We were really pleased with the great response from Dover residents and the encouragement they gave to their lifeboat crew. We raised over £900 which in today's economic environment was amazing. We'd like to thank Asda, Kent Fire & Rescue Service and of course the people of the town for their support."
